The next-generation Renegade from Jeep will be an EV priced at $25,000

During a recent Stellantis investor presentation, key executives, including CEO Antonio Filosa, offered a glimpse into the future of Jeep up to 2027. The roadmap entails a mix of new and revamped models with a strong emphasis on electrification across various price points.

A major highlight of the presentation was the revelation of the upcoming next-generation Jeep Renegade, depicted in the current model image above. The compact SUV is set to debut with a fully-electric variant, expected to be priced below $25,000. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares indicated that this electric Renegade would likely rely on lithium-iron-phosphate battery chemistry due to its cost-efficiency compared to the prevailing nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry. He also mentioned the necessity of establishing LFP battery production facilities in North America to qualify for tax incentives. As a result, the initial MSRP of the electric Renegade may exceed $25,000 but could potentially drop below that figure after factoring in federal tax credits.

However, the Renegade isn’t the sole new model in the pipeline. The Jeep Compass is slated for a new generation release by 2027, while an unnamed midsize SUV was teased alongside the Wagoneer S debut. Speculation suggests that this mystery SUV could be the redesigned Cherokee or a successor with a distinct moniker. Additionally, refreshes are anticipated for the Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer. The lineup by 2027 is forecasted to feature five PHEV variants, a range-extended model, and six fully electric vehicles, with some models being variations of existing offerings.

Of the six full EVs on the horizon, two are set to be unveiled in 2025. One will be based on the STLA Large platform catering to E- and D-segment vehicles like the Grand Cherokee, while the other will utilize the STLA Medium platform intended for D- and C-segment vehicles such as the Compass and its successor.

Regarding the Renegade, expectations point to a delayed launch compared to larger models and the deployment of the Stellantis Smart Car platform given its B-segment classification and budget-friendly pricing coupled with a range of powertrain options. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares hinted at this strategy when referencing the Citroen e-C3, another platform user. The Smart Car platform supports B- and C-segment vehicles, hybrid powertrains, and electric propulsion, offering an estimated range of up to 249 miles (WLTP conditions, subject to variation on the EPA cycle).

Enthusiasts can anticipate an electrifying evolution for Jeep in the coming years, with the electrification era commencing imminently as the Wagoneer S hits the market before year-end, followed by the Recon’s full-scale availability next year.

Update: Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares disclosed additional details about the Jeep Renegade EV, necessitating an update to the initial information.
