The Most Searched Car Brands in the Country on the Internet

The popularity and preferences for different automotive brands vary significantly across different regions of the United States. While electric vehicles are prominent on the West Coast, particularly in California, the appeal of vehicles like Subaru is more significant in northeastern states like Vermont. In a recent review conducted by MarketWatch, internet search trends were analyzed to identify the most associated car brands by state, as well as the states with the highest interest in electric vehicles.

According to MarketWatch’s breakdown, Toyota emerged as the most searched car brand nationwide, closely followed by Tesla, Honda, Ford, and Hyundai. The study also revealed that Delaware, Washington, and Mississippi showed the highest interest in new cars, while New Jersey, California, and New York were more focused on used vehicles.

In terms of electric vehicle searches, California, Washington, and Nevada led the pack, with Tesla as the dominant brand. The Model Y, Model 3, Model X, and Model S were the most searched electric vehicles in these states. Surprisingly, despite Tesla’s reputation, Ram was the most associated brand in California, while Subaru and Rivian took the lead in Oregon and Washington, respectively. Furthermore, it was revealed that Lincoln was the most associated brand in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

However, Tesla’s popularity did not extend to southeastern and some Midwestern states, where it was ranked as the least associated brand in the likes of Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Acura was also the least associated brand with several states, including Wyoming, Nebraska, and Maine, which could be attributed to the absence of Acura dealerships in these areas.

This variation in automotive brand preferences across different states brings to light the important role of regional preferences and factors in shaping the automotive industry’s landscape. Understanding these preferences can significantly impact marketing strategies and dealership operations in different regions, highlighting the significance of local insights for automakers and industry professionals.
