Testing the Porsche 911 GTS on the roads of Munich: Not as fun as it sounds.

My week in Munich with a 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS was a standout experience. The overwhelming consensus about the 911’s impressive performance and legendary handling is nothing short of the truth. Despite the stereotypes and cynicism that come with a 911 sports car, there are undeniable dynamic attributes that balance the scale. The car’s steering, acceleration, and exhaust note are just a few examples of the mechanical excellence that is a 911.

However, the local driving experience wasn’t as ideal as one may expect. Munich’s strict emissions standards, traffic congestion, and the city’s aggressive campaign against climate change made driving the high-performance Porsche somewhat challenging. The city has experienced an increase in traffic due to new speed limits, enforced cycling infrastructure, and road works, making everyday tasks such as right-hand turns daunting.
