Scout submits trademark applications for at least 29 names for upcoming lineup

Scout Motors has been actively filing trademark applications with the USPTO for potential names of upcoming battery-electric off-roaders. Among the 41 petitions submitted, more than two dozen are dedicated to classic names with a vintage connection, ensuring that the historical legacy of the Scout lineup is preserved. Some of these iconic names include Aristocrat, Rallye, Scout 80, Scout 800, Scout II, Sno-Star, Sportstar, SR-2, SSII, Spirit, Super Scout, Terra, Terrastar, Trailstar, Travelstar, Travelstar XL, and Traveltop.

These names hold significance in the history of International Harvester, with the likes of the Scout 80, the first model introduced for the Scout lineup in 1960, and the subsequent models such as Scout 800 and Scout II. The Scout 800 brought a V8 engine to the range, while special packages like the Aristocrat and Rallye offered unique features and styling cues. Additionally, custom packages from Custom Vehicles Incorporated (CVI) brought forth models like the Scout Sportstar, Terra, Trailstar, and Travelstar.

Furthermore, 12 new potential names have been proposed for future Scouts, offering a blend of farm-inspired, rugged, and futuristic monikers. These names include Baler, Carolina, Cultivator, Forma, Grade, Harrow, Hauler, Reaper, Scythe, Swather, Tellus, and Thresher. Carolina stands out as a more sentimental name, while the Reaper hints at a powerful, high-performance vehicle.

These trademark applications indicate that Scout Motors is gearing up to expand its lineup with a diverse range of electric off-roaders, reflecting the brand’s heritage while embracing new and innovative directions in the automotive market.
