Top priority for new-car buyers: Wireless charging pads

Forget the traditional features like push-button starters and sunroofs; the most desired feature on the radar of new-car buyers is a wireless charging pad for phones that is easily accessible to front-row passengers. In fact, according to the latest AutoPacific’s Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS), the second most sought-after feature is a wireless charging pad for rear passengers.

Comfort and convenience features have taken the lead as the top priorities for new vehicle shoppers, with phone charging pads for both front and rear occupants ranking at the top of the list. Other popular features include heated and ventilated seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, sunroof-moonroof, and driver profile settings.

The survey, which gathered responses from over 14,900 licensed drivers in the U.S. who plan to purchase a new vehicle within three years, evaluated the demand for 163 different features ranging from autonomous driving technology to connectivity devices.

Interestingly, the demand for driver profile settings has significantly increased this year, with respondents showing a keen interest in personalizing their driving experience. From seat comfort adjustments to exterior LED light signatures, there is a growing desire for individualized features that cater to specific preferences.

Overall, the study highlights the shifting priorities of new vehicle shoppers, emphasizing the importance of customization and comfort in the driving experience. To explore the complete report, click here.
