Lucid Air achieves record 5.0 miles per kilowatt hour with 2025 upgrades

A series of updates in both Lucid Motors and the Environmental Protection Agency have resulted in minor adjustments to the estimated ranges of the 2025 Air lineup. Lucid initially introduced the 1,234-horsepower Sapphire model with a heat pump, which was later incorporated into the Air Grand Touring in 2024. Moving into 2025, Lucid has made the heat pump a standard feature on the Touring and Pure trims as well. The most significant impact of this change can be seen in the entry-level Air Pure model. Despite undergoing a more challenging EPA test and having a smaller 84-kWh battery, the 2025 Air Pure now boasts a range of 420 miles on a single charge – one mile more than its 2024 counterpart. This translates to an impressive 146 MPGe, with a rate of five miles per kilowatt-hour, surpassing the 4.76 mi/kWh of the 2024 Air Pure.

However, the performance of the heat pump varies across the lineup. Changes in the EPA testing have led to a decrease in the range of the Air Touring from 411 miles to 406 miles, while the Grand Touring model now offers 512 miles – four miles less than before. Despite initially claiming a 516-mile range for the Grand Touring, it seems that further testing was conducted to refine the figures. The pricing for the 2025 lineup remains competitive, with adjustments as follows:

– Pure: $71,475 (No change)
– Touring: $80,475 ($1,000 increase)
– Grand Touring: $112,475 ($1,000 increase)
– Sapphire: $250,575 (No change)

Each 2025 Air model will now include Lucid’s DreamDrive advanced driver assistance systems as standard, featuring surround-view cameras and live blind-spot displays. The infotainment system has also been upgraded, boasting triple the processing power and double the memory for a more responsive user experience.

Notably, the Grand Touring model now features SurrealSound Pro audio as a standard feature, previously offered as a $4,000 option. In addition to these updates, enhancements made in April to the electric motor design, battery cell chemistry, and thermal characteristics have been further optimized for improved performance during extended periods of driving, along with up to 30% faster charging capabilities due to enhanced pre-conditioning features.
