Honda and Acura Recall 4.5 Million Vehicles Worldwide to Address Fuel Pump Defect

Honda is recalling more than 4.5 million cars globally due to a fuel pump problem that poses a risk of engine failure and potential accidents. The recall affects 2.54 million vehicles in the United States, with previous recalls in 2021 and 2020. Honda has also issued recalls in China and Japan for the same issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals that impellers inside fuel pumps of 2017-2020 Hondas and Acuras may cause the engine to not start or stall while driving. Although no crashes or injuries have been reported, Honda will replace the in-tank fuel pumps in the entire U.S. recall population at no cost to owners. Repairs will be done in phases, with notifications already being sent out. Owners can check if their vehicle is included in the recall using their VIN through NHTSA’s recall site or Honda’s recall platforms. NHTSA’s campaign number for the recall is 23V858000, and owners can reach Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Additionally, more than 106,000 examples of 2020-2022 CR-V hybrid vehicles have also been recalled due to a missing fuse on the power circuit of exterior 12-Volt battery cables, posing a risk of short circuit or overheating during a crash.
