Fisker Requests Court Approval to Sell Ocean EVs for $14,000 Each

Fisker is currently in the process of seeking approval from a bankruptcy judge to sell off more than 3,000 Ocean electric SUVs from its inventory for around $14,000 per vehicle to American Lease, a vehicle-leasing company based in New York. This move comes as Fisker continues to navigate its Chapter 11 proceedings.

The sale of these 3,321 electric vehicles to American Lease for $46.25 million will help Fisker address some of the logistical challenges it has faced in selling the Ocean electric SUVs. The company shifted its approach to a dealer-partner model earlier this year after experiencing significant cashflow issues.

Initially priced at approximately $70,000, Fisker reduced the cost of the cheapest Ocean SUV variant to about $25,000 as part of its efforts to generate capital and meet debt obligations during its bankruptcy process.

American Lease, known for serving ride share drivers in and around New York City with leased or rental vehicles, had initially agreed to purchase 2,100 Ocean EVs before increasing its offer to acquire all 3,321 units that were prepared for sale.

This strategic sale to American Lease aligns with New York City’s mandate for rideshare fleets to transition to either zero-emission vehicles or wheelchair accessible vehicles by 2030. By providing a fleet of electric SUVs to ride share drivers, American Lease is well-positioned to support this important transition in the city’s transportation sector.
