Using a front loader to stop another front loader

In a recent incident captured on body cam video, a stolen oversized front loader in Georgia was brought to a stop by another front loader during a police pursuit. The 38-year-old suspect, a former worker at a waste management site, had taken control of the heavy vehicle and began driving erratically on the site.

As police arrived at the scene, they attempted to stop the 75,000-pound front loader, which was capable of reaching speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Despite their commands, the suspect drove off the site and into traffic, navigating heavy traffic in an unpredictable manner.

To apprehend the suspect, one police officer continued the pursuit while another officer enlisted the help of a second front loader and driver from the waste site. The two large machines engaged in a slow but effective maneuver, ultimately flipping the stolen front loader onto its side. The suspect was then apprehended without any reported injuries.

Following the incident, the suspect was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being charged with criminal trespass, theft, reckless driving, and eluding police. Property damage charges were also filed, indicating that the flipped loader did incur some damage during the pursuit.

This unusual case highlights the resourcefulness and quick thinking of law enforcement officers in handling unexpected situations involving stolen heavy equipment.
