Ford Performance supercharger kit boosts Mustang to 810 horsepower with warranty

After witnessing the success of tuners and dealers like Beechmont Ford Performance in increasing profits by supercharging Coyote engines, Ford Performance has taken note and stepped up its own game. The introduction of the FP700 package for the F-150 last summer was just the beginning. Now, with the unveiling of the 2024 Mustang GT and Dark Horse Supercharger Kit at SEMA, Ford Performance is bringing even more power to the table for retail sale.

The new supercharger kit boosts the horsepower of the GT and Dark Horse models to an impressive 800 hp without active exhaust, or an astonishing 810 hp with active exhaust. Torque is also increased to 615 pound-feet, making this upgrade compatible with both the six-speed manual and the ten-speed automatic transmissions.

The Whipple Gen 6 3.0-liter twin-screw supercharger, paired with a dual-pass intercooler, is the driving force behind these performance enhancements. Additional components included in the kit are a dual-air intake system leading to a 92-mm throttle body, new spark plugs with a colder heat range, port fuel injectores from the GT500, and a Tomahawk calibration tool. To handle the increased power, a new fuel rail and half shafts are also recommended.

Priced at $9,995 before installation, the kit comes with a factory three-year or 36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or ASE certified technician and registered with the Ford Performance Tech-line. However, it is important to note that the kit is not approved for use in California and requires 91-octane premium fuel for optimal performance.

For those who prefer options, Whipple also offers a similar supercharger setup with its Gen 6 Stage 1 kit, priced at $9,295. Additional options like a powertrain warranty bring the prices closer to parity. Roush also offers a Phase 2 build that boosts output to 750 hp and 670 lb-ft for $11,450 installed, with the same warranty coverage at any Ford dealer.
