The 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid makes its debut as a PHEV featuring an inline-six engine

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid is a step up from its predecessor, offering a blend of stellar sport sedan performance and eco-friendly features. Powering this four-door sedan is an updated 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that delivers 443 horsepower, thanks to a new turbo, revised engine software, and enhanced cooling capabilities. In addition, the E 53 Hybrid is equipped with a 161-horsepower electric motor integrated into the nine-speed automatic transmission, boosting the total system output to an impressive 577 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system ensures excellent traction, especially when engaging the “Race Start” mode for a temporary power boost up to 604 horsepower.

The vehicle also boasts PHEV credentials with a 28.6 kWh battery pack, providing up to 21.2 kWh for everyday use, and the remaining capacity reserved for electric boost during high-performance driving. Charging can be done at a DC fast charger at speeds of up to 60 kW, or at home with AC charging up to 11 kW. With one-pedal driving capability and impressive range figures expected, the E 53 Hybrid offers both performance and efficiency.

The exterior design of the E 53 Hybrid is distinctively AMG, featuring wider fenders, an AMG-specific grille, unique bumpers, Hybrid badging, side skirts, alloy wheels, spoiler lip, and quad exhaust system. Inside, the cabin is appointed with AMG Sport seats or performance seats, AMG logos, specific menus and displays, and the option for a Superscreen for a screen-heavy interior experience.

For those looking for a special edition model, the E 53 Hybrid “Edition 1” is available with exclusive appearance extras, such as Manufaktur Moonlight White Magno paint, black graphics and accents, a unique black and yellow interior, and an AMG car cover with the “Edition 1” logo. Pricing details for the E 53 Hybrid have yet to be released, but Mercedes anticipates a release date later in 2024.

In summary, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid offers a compelling combination of performance, efficiency, and luxury, making it a standout choice in the mid-tier segment of the E-Class lineup.
