Jeep Wranglers Off-Road in Calico – Adventure Weekend Day 2

In this second part of my adventure weekend in Calico, California with the San Diego Jeep Club, we set out early in the morning to tackle some tough obstacles on the Odessa and Doran canyon trails. We encountered challenges along the way, such as stacking rocks and using tow straps, but overall had a great time.

Our small group of jeeps ventured up the Odessa trail, which features an uphill climb in a beautiful sandstone canyon. Despite some solid obstacles, an experienced driver with a decent rig and spotter can successfully navigate the trail.

Some of the challenges we faced included a narrow uphill section and a waterfall that required a good line and potentially stacking rocks for clearance. There was also a nerve-wracking obstacle called Pucker Pass, which required careful navigation due to a narrow ledge and steep drop-off.

After conquering the Odessa trail, we headed down the Doran trail which presented its own set of obstacles. We encountered fellow off-roaders going the opposite direction, highlighting the difficulty of navigating the trail in reverse.

While a slightly modified rig can handle the trail, there were instances where we needed to stack rocks and use tow straps to overcome obstacles. This added an element of adventure to our trip and made for a memorable experience.
