The 2025 Kia Carnival has been unveiled with exciting new upgrades, including the addition of a hybrid powertrain that will make it a worthy competitor in the minivan segment. This move allows it to go head-to-head against the hybrid-only Toyota Sienna and the plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica.
This new hybrid engine features a distinct turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder coupled with a 72-horsepower electric motor, providing a combined output of 242 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. It’s equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and exclusively powers the front wheels. Although fuel economy figures are yet to be announced, it is expected to offer impressive efficiency, drawing comparisons to the Kia Sorento hybrid and competing models.
For those who prefer a non-hybrid option, the 2025 Carnival retains the V6 engine from the current model, delivering 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Exclusively paired with front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, it provides a traditional powertrain choice.
Visually, the Carnival showcases modest styling updates, including new headlights and grille designs, updated bumpers, and new wheel designs inspired by the latest Kia models. The “Dark Edition” offers a sleek appearance with dark trim, while the interior receives subtle changes, such as a multi-function touch panel and updated infotainment features.
The 2025 Carnival will hit the market in five trims: LX, LXS, X, SX, and SX Prestige, with the hybrid powertrain available in all trims except the base LX. The summer launch will also unveil pricing information and detailed fuel economy figures, creating anticipation for this new and improved family minivan.
