Toyota is making significant upgrades to its first battery-electric vehicle, the bZ4X, as it enters its second model year. In response to concerns about slow charging in cold weather, the automaker has improved the battery’s heat regulation by adding a water-to-water heat exchanger and a heating adjustment valve, resulting in faster DC charging in cold temperatures. This will provide a more seamless and efficient charging experience for owners.
In addition to the enhanced battery performance, Toyota is also including a portable charging cable with both XLE and Limited trims, allowing for 120-volt Level 1 and 240-volt Level 2 charging. This is an improvement from the 2023 model, which only included a Level 1 charging cable. Furthermore, buyers and lessees will receive a year of free charging with EVgo, making the transition to electric even more convenient.
On the more luxurious side, the Limited trim now comes with Advance Park as standard, which can assist in parallel or perpendicular parking. The entry-level XLE trim also includes an eight-way power driver’s seat and a power liftgate.
Pricing for the 2024 bZ4X, after the $1,350 destination fee, starts at $44,420 for the XLE trim and $48,430 for the Limited trim. Both trims are available with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive powertrains, with the AWD versions costing an additional $2,080.
