REE Automotive commences testing of electric P7-C truck in the United States

Israel-based REE Automotive has received approval to begin delivery of the P7-C electric truck to customers in the United States. This innovative battery-powered chassis-cab is the first by-wire commercial truck to achieve FMVSS and EPA certifications, marking a significant milestone in the industry.

The initial trucks being sent to the US are demonstration units that will undergo fleet evaluations. The P7-C is equipped with steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and throttle-by-wire systems, representing cutting-edge technology that aims to improve efficiency and design flexibility.

Designed as a Class 4 truck, the P7-C is specifically tailored for urban environments with a driving range of 150 miles. It measures 16 feet in length, offering a payload capacity of 7,054 pounds and a peak power of 536 horsepower. The skateboard platform can be customized based on customer needs, accommodating different configurations such as a cargo box, delivery truck, pickup, power-operated crane, or even a camper.

Underneath its body, the P7-C is powered by a large-capacity lithium-ion battery pack integrated into the frame, which drives four independent motors for through-the-road all-wheel-drive. Additionally, a four-wheel steering system enhances maneuverability, especially in urban settings.

Buyers eligible for the P7-C can take advantage of a potential tax credit of up to $40,000 from the federal government, with additional incentives available at the state level. This can significantly reduce the truck’s base price, providing significant cost savings for qualifying buyers. The base price of the truck has not yet been published.
