Porsche Taycan sets a significantly faster Nürburgring time than Tesla Model S Plaid

Porsche has announced that it will be expanding the Taycan lineup with a new, top-of-the-line trim level, set to be released in 2024. The electric sedan has already made a name for itself by becoming the fastest electric Porsche around the Nürburgring track. In a recent run, factory development driver Lars Kern lapped the track in 7:07.55, setting a new record.

This upcoming flagship model for the Taycan range is making waves as it enters supercar territory with its lap time at the Nürburgring. While the model has not been fully unveiled yet, the pre-production prototype has been seen with a unique body kit, complete with a front splitter, air intakes, side skirts, and a wing. It was also equipped with a roll cage and racing bucket seats for its ‘Ring lap. Spy shots have given us a glimpse of the potential Turbo GT nameplate for the new Taycan, showing a back end with wider wheel arches, winglets, and an air diffuser.

In addition to cosmetic changes, there are expectations of chassis and suspension updates, as well as a potential increase in power for the drivetrain. Currently, the most powerful Taycan is the Turbo S, which has up to 750 horsepower. More details about this new Taycan model will be revealed in the coming months, so stay tuned for additional updates from Porsche.
