Pininfarina, known for its history as a design house and contract manufacturer, is now focusing on its future as a carmaker. To honor its legacy, the brand has launched the Pininfarina Classiche certification program, offering enthusiasts valuable details about their vintage cars.
Initially, the program will focus on certifying two models: the Alfa Romeo Spider and the Fiat 124 Spider, both of which were designed by Pininfarina. The certification will provide collectors with production-related data, including chassis numbers, original paint and upholstery colors, and production dates, as well as other details such as engine numbers and convertible top colors.
In order to get their car certified, enthusiasts can contact Pininfarina to begin the process. The cost for certification is €400 (approximately $430) for cars built before 1980 and €300 (around $330) for post-1980 models.
Pininfarina’s archive department includes production serial numbers for over 700,000 cars and more than 20,000 historical documents, such as design sketches and technical blueprints. The brand plans to expand its Classiche service in the near future to include more models.
This certification program represents an exciting and valuable opportunity for vintage car enthusiasts to gain insight and documentation about their cherished vehicles. As Pininfarina continues to build its reputation as a carmaker, it remains committed to honoring its heritage as a renowned design house and contract manufacturer.
