McLaren intensifies their electric ‘hyper bikes’ line-up

McLaren Automotive is leveraging its expertise in supercars and Formula 1 racing to introduce a line of electric mountain bikes, known as “hyper bikes,” which will consist of four distinctive models.

Leading the pack are the McLaren Extreme 600 and Sport 600 variants, touted as some of the most potent street-legal electric bikes on the market, capable of delivering up to 852W of peak power. Complementing these high-performance models are two other bikes in the lineup, with prices ranging from $11,950 for the Extreme 600 to $7,950 for the base model Sport 250.

Unlike some competitors, McLaren asserts that these bikes are not simply rebranded products from other manufacturers that have been modified. Instead, they are developed by the same teams behind McLaren’s cutting-edge supercars like the McLaren Artura hybrid supercar. These bikes showcase features such as carbon fiber construction and five distinct power settings: Off, Eco, Trail, Sport, and Race. (if “off” is not included). They are equipped with Pirelli tires to match McLaren’s cars.

The Extreme model boasts a full suspension setup with a 29-inch front wheel, 27.5-inch rear wheel, 145mm of rear travel, and 160mm of fork travel. On the other hand, the Sport model features a 29-inch hardtail design.

These bikes are equipped with one-piece “cockpits” that include a digital display akin to those found in McLaren vehicles. The display provides telemetry data such as speed, battery life, and range on a full-color integrated LCD panel mounted on the handlebars.

McLaren plans to offer these bikes in limited quantities, exclusively through its official website.
