Lexux LY 680 Sets Sail: Advancing Lexus’ Lifestyle Goals on the Open Water

Toyota’s venture into the marine industry dates back to 1997 with the establishment of the Toyota Marine division, launching aquatic products under the Ponam brand. In 2019, Lexus made a splash in the luxury yacht market with the introduction of the LY 650, showcasing the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional experiences beyond the realm of automobiles. Crafted by Marquis Yachts in Wisconsin, the LY 650 boasted sleek lines reminiscent of Marquis’ 630 Sport Yacht or 65 models, with interior design by the esteemed Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard.
Now, building upon the success of the LY 650, Lexus presents the LY 680, an enhanced version that elevates the luxury yacht experience. This updated model features a lengthened flybridge adding 55 inches to accommodate a spacious lounge sofa and barbecue area, along with a 27.6-inch extension to the swimming platform at the rear, increasing the overall length to 67.8 feet.
In terms of specifications, both the LY 650 and LY 680 share key features such as an 18 feet 11-inch beam, three decks, an interior layout with three staterooms sleeping six, a capacity to comfortably host 15 guests, 226 gallons of fresh water storage, and a substantial 1,060-gallon fuel tank.
While the LY 650 found success in the American market before production concluded, the LY 680 is tailored for the Japanese market, with production entrusted to Taiwanese yacht builders Horizon Group. Offering two engine options, the LY 680 comes equipped with twin Volvo Penta IPS 12.8-liter inline-six inboards generating either 789 hp or 986 hp each, replacing the previous 887-hp engine choice available on the LY 650. With fuel consumption rated at 50 gallons per hour for the Volvo Pentas, cruising at full throttle provides around 10 hours of continuous operation to propel you to your destination swiftly.
Toyota Marine is currently accepting orders for the LY 680 exclusively in Japan, with potential expansion to other markets based on customer demand in the future. Priced at 770 million yen or approximately $5.1 million USD, the first deliveries of the LY 680 luxury yacht are anticipated in 2026. Experience the epitome of aquatic opulence with the Lexus LY 680, where automotive innovation meets nautical elegance.
