Karma Geyesera unveils its battery-electric sport tourer at Amelia Island

When Karma Automotive unveiled the all-electric Kaveya coupe in Las Vegas last November, it also teased the upcoming Gyesera “BEV touring sedan” set to debut before the Kaveya. Positioned as a pure electric evolution of the plug-in hybrid Revero, which traces its roots back to the original Karma Fisker sedan from 2011, the Gyesera is making waves in the electric vehicle market. This sedan boasts a rear-wheel-drive configuration with an electric motor churning out 590 horsepower and 690 pound-feet of torque, powered by a 120-kWh battery pack providing a range exceeding 250 miles. Performance figures include a blistering 0-60 mph time of under 4.2 seconds and a top speed of approximately 135 mph. The Amelia Island Concours served as the platform for Karma to unveil this stunning electric creation, with plans to commence sales by the end of this year or early 2025.

For those familiar with Karma’s EV lineup, the GSe-6 was a proposed electric variant based on the GS6 plug-in hybrid that eventually evolved into the Revero. Despite not making it into production due to a strategic shift, the Gyesera steps in as a pioneering electric sedan. Marques McCammon, the President of Karma Automotive, described the Gyesera as a modern, high-performance vehicle aligning with the brand’s refreshed direction, offering a blend of beauty, performance, and pure electric driving experience.

Drawing inspiration from the Fisker Karma legacy, key design cues have been refined in the Gyesera, with over 85% of the exterior panels reimagined to emphasize its modern appeal. Notable exterior changes include a redesigned front fascia, carbon fiber accents, and an enhanced rear end featuring a carbon diffuser. The interior showcases a reinvigorated cabin layout, with a modern center console display, updated trims, and a new steering wheel offering a sophisticated cockpit environment.

While the Gyesera promises to be a truly special vehicle, there is some concern regarding its exclusivity and pricing strategy. With a projected price range of $175,000 to $225,000 per unit for a limited production run of around 2,000 cars spanning four to five years, the Gyesera caters to a discerning clientele seeking a unique, high-performance exotic sedan. However, competition in the luxury electric vehicle segment is fierce, with formidable contenders offering impressive performance figures at lower price points.

Despite the pricing considerations, interested buyers can secure a reservation for the awe-inspiring Gyesera by placing a $5,000 deposit. As the automotive world eagerly anticipates the arrival of the Gyesera, it remains to be seen how this flagship electric sedan will redefine the landscape of luxury electric vehicles and captivate enthusiasts with its groundbreaking features and design.
