Engineer of the Cybertruck requests Tesla owners to stop damaging the distressed vehicle.

Don’t be surprised to see a new Cybertruck cruising around town sporting bullet holes or a cracked window. Cybertruck owners have been subjecting their trucks to a variety of tests and challenges, including taking them through extreme conditions like high waters, shooting them with firearms, throwing metal balls at the windows, and off-roading. These tests have left the vehicles with battle scars, showcasing their durability.

Tesla engineer Wes Morrill recently called for an end to these experiments, noting that the Cybertruck has endured a lot of abuse for entertainment purposes. While Tesla CEO Elon Musk has marketed the Cybertruck as “tough” and “apocalypse-proof,” Morrill hopes that these challenges can come to an end so that the Cybertruck can roam freely on and off-road in peace.

Musk has claimed that the Cybertruck is bulletproof to 9mm and .22 caliber firearms, and has teased a version of the truck with thicker fixed-pane glass windows. Public demonstrations have showcased the truck’s durability, with various individuals putting the Cybertruck through tests like torching it, shooting at it with firearms, throwing a steel ball at it, and taking it off-road.

Despite the damage inflicted in these tests, some owners may choose to keep the scars as a “badge of honor.” Cybertruck owner Zack Nelson has expressed plans to leave some of the bullet wounds on his vehicle because they “look cool.” As the Cybertruck continues to be tested and challenged, it’s important to strike a balance between showcasing its toughness and ensuring that it can continue to function properly in everyday use.
