Spy photos of the Hyundai Santa Cruz show a subtle update in design

The Hyundai Santa Cruz is entering its third year on the market, and spy photos suggest that a refresh may be on the way for this compact pickup truck. While the changes are subtle, there are some noticeable updates, particularly to the front end. The grille now features a rectangular mesh design with concealed running lights, giving the Santa Cruz a more upright and truck-like appearance similar to the recent refresh of the Hyundai Palisade. The headlight openings maintain the same shape, indicating a more conservative update. The rest of the truck is heavily camouflaged, but it appears that overall profile, taillights, and fender flares will remain unchanged.

Given its close relation to the Tucson, the Santa Cruz is likely to receive interior updates similar to those of the SUV, including a new interior design inspired by the Ioniq cars with a low dash and dual-screen panel. The current 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder and turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines with their respective transmissions are expected to carry over, though there’s potential for the addition of the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains from the Tucson.

As for when we can expect to see these changes, the refresh is anticipated to debut for the 2025 model year, and pricing is not expected to shift significantly. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
