Official sketches preview Porsche Macan EV before official unveiling

The 2025 model year will see the release of the second-generation Porsche Macan with electric power. From camouflaged test mules to pre-production prototypes, the brand has provided a look at the upcoming SUV through design sketches. According to Michael Mauer, the vice president of Porsche’s design department, the new model combines a recognition of Porsche’s heritage with innovative design decisions. The design of the new Macan is said to draw inspiration from the Taycan, featuring thin horizontal headlights with LED accents and a light bar that stretches across the entire width of the car.

One of the challenges Porsche faced with making the Macan an EV was finding a balance between design aesthetics and the space required for the battery. The interior of the second-generation Macan mirrors the styling and technology of recent additions to the Porsche lineup, including a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and other high-tech features.

Technical details remain mostly under wraps, but Porsche has revealed that the new Macan will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and offer dual-motor all-wheel-drive. The most powerful configuration will deliver about 603 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque, with other variants also available. The official debut of the new Macan is set for January 25 in Singapore, with sales to follow shortly after.

Additionally, the current Macan will continue to be offered for buyers who prefer a non-electric option, although the timeline for its availability has not been determined. This strategy will accommodate the diverse needs and preferences of Porsche’s customer base.
