Bugatti recently unveiled its latest creation, the Tourbillon, following the footsteps of the iconic Veyron and Chiron. The automotive landscape has evolved significantly since the Chiron’s debut, with high-performance luxury sedans and EVs delivering extraordinary power outputs.
Bugatti’s technical alliance with Rimac led to the development of the Tourbillon’s hybrid powertrain. The hypercar features a front dual-motor and dual-inverter setup generating 600 horsepower, complemented by a rear electric motor delivering an additional 200 hp. The vehicle can travel up to 37 miles on pure electric power, thanks to a 25-kilowatt battery submerged in oil for optimal performance.
The Tourbillon is also equipped with a 64-valve, naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine producing 1,000 horsepower without forced induction. The total system output reaches a staggering 1,800 horsepower, providing an exhilarating driving experience. Bugatti stayed true to its heritage by maintaining the 16-cylinder configuration in a V formation, resulting in a unique and powerful engine setup.
Through advanced engineering and materials testing, Bugatti managed to minimize vibrations in the high-powered V16 engine, ensuring a smooth driving experience. The Tourbillon boasts impressive performance figures, achieving 124 mph in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of 277 mph. The aerodynamic design of the hypercar, inspired by a falcon, enhances performance by reducing drag and achieving aerodynamic neutrality at high speeds.
