Google-backed EV infrastructure startup Gravity Mobility has recently unveiled the fastest charging solution in the United States, targeting major fleet customers looking to electrify their vehicles. This new development showcases Gravity’s commitment to revolutionizing the EV charging space.
With 24 of Gravity’s 500-kilowatt (kW) chargers now available in New York, fleet operators can benefit from a rapid charging rate of 2,400 miles of range per hour or 200 miles in just five minutes. This impressive capability sets Gravity apart as an industry leader in high-speed charging solutions.
Having the capacity to manufacture and deploy thousands of chargers annually, Gravity is already planning additional sites beyond the initial launch in Midtown Manhattan. CEO Moshe Cohen expressed confidence in the company’s growth potential, emphasizing their ability to scale the network to rival existing industry players like Tesla.
While Tesla has established a significant charging network with more than 15,000 locations, Gravity aims to expand its high-speed charger network nationwide with plans to raise additional funds this year. The company’s compact chargers, comparable in size to a carry-on suitcase, offer a convenient and efficient charging solution for electric vehicle owners.
Looking ahead, the automotive industry anticipates future electric vehicle models capable of utilizing faster chargers like Gravity’s 500 kW devices. ChargePoint has already introduced its Express Plus Power Link 2000 product, while Tesla continues to innovate with its Superchargers.
