2025 4Runner teased by Toyota

In August 2009, the fifth-generation Toyota 4Runner began its production journey in Japan. Fast forward to today, as the 4Runner will soon retire, a new model is on the horizon. Toyota has recently released teaser images, hinting at what we can expect from the upcoming 4Runner.

The latest teaser images showcase a refreshingly different rear end design compared to its predecessor. Featuring trimmer taillights, a sleeker tailgate, and a squared-off bumper with distinctive red reflectors and metallic trim, the new 4Runner promises to deliver a modern yet rugged aesthetic. You’ll notice the new placement of the 4Runner logo above the bumper, with subtle yet stylish updates to its design elements.

While details are scarce, rumors suggest that the new 4Runner will feature evolutionary styling akin to the latest Tacoma pickup. Expect a lineup of four-cylinder engines with varying power outputs, possibly ranging from 228 hp to 326 hp, similar to the Tacoma’s engine options. There’s even speculation about a manual transmission variant, adding to the excitement for enthusiasts.

Furthermore, reports hint at off-road capabilities with advanced features like a front sway bar disconnect, locking differentials, larger tires, and advanced shock-absorbing seats. As seen on a recent prototype in Arizona sporting Tacoma wheels, the new 4Runner will likely offer enhanced performance and rugged styling.

Production is expected to begin in July, with the new 4Runner hitting the market soon after. Stay tuned for more updates as Toyota prepares to launch its highly anticipated SUV.
