More power, more style – Nissan Ariya Nismo ups the ante

Nissan’s Ariya Nismo Unveiled at Tokyo Auto Salon Demonstrates Impressive Upgrades

Nissan recently unveiled the Ariya Nismo at the Tokyo Auto Salon, demonstrating an electric SUV that offers a variety of enhanced features. While the vehicle doesn’t tout the same level of aggressiveness as some of its competitors, it certainly delivers in terms of performance and styling upgrades.

On the exterior, the Ariya Nismo showcases a range of updates including body and graphics enhancements. These include a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser with a motorsport-style rear fog light, and a sleek lip spoiler at the rear window. The addition of a red line running along the lower body parts, along with red accents on the mirror caps and a prominent Nismo logo, give the vehicle a distinctive look. Optional hood stripes and unique 20-inch wheels fitted with 255-mm tires further contribute to the SUV’s sporty appeal.

The interior of the Ariya Nismo reflects a sporty aesthetic with an all-black cabin, faux wood trim with a natural grain finish, and a sportier steering wheel adorned with red stitching. The bright red center section spanning the air vents, along with red perforated faux suede seats, adds to the overall craftsmanship and upscale appeal of the interior. The bolstered seats are designed to offer greater support during sportier driving experiences.

In terms of performance, the Ariya Nismo models offer increased output compared to standard E-4orce models. The shorter-range Ariya Nismo with a 66-kWh battery boasts 362 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the longer-range model with a 91-kWh battery delivers 429 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Nismo has also retuned the suspension, braking system, throttle response, and torque split between the dual motors to enhance the overall driving experience.

While the availability of the Ariya Nismo in the U.S. has not been confirmed, Nissan’s decision to introduce the vehicle in response to the growing demand for higher-performance EVs in the SUV segment may indicate a promising future for the model. With competitors offering higher horsepower outputs, Nissan may find a receptive market for the Ariya Nismo in the U.S. as consumers increasingly seek electrified SUVs with compelling performance capabilities.
