The Transglobal Car Expedition is a historic and groundbreaking mission that seeks to circle the Earth by traversing both geographic North and South Poles. The internationally renowned exploratory team, led by North American Rally Champion, X Games medalist, and Hollywood stunt driver Andrew Comrie-Picard, is embarking on this incredible 18-month journey covering over 50,000 kilometers (31,000 miles).
This ambitious expedition will utilize specially built Arctic Truck vehicles along with amphibious Yemelya special mobile units designed for specific regions. The team will conduct a wide variety of science experiments, including understanding ice thicknesses, studying cosmic radiation, and analyzing human physiological changes in extreme environments.
The scientific program of the Transglobal Car Expedition is backed by a group of global scientists and their affiliations, including astronaut and engineer Paolo Nespoli, scientist and communicator Paola Catapano of CERN, and director for research and innovation at the Citizen Science Center in Zurich, Rosy Mondardini, among others. This collaboration aims to measure critical factors and understand the changes our planet is undergoing in order to search for worldwide solutions to these problems.
Although the expedition has faced challenges and valuable lessons, such as the unexpected loss of a heavily modified Ford F-150 vehicle during a trip to the far northern Canadian ice, the team successfully recovered the vehicle with minimal environmental impact. In fact, this experience has led to the development of deeper relationships with indigenous people and the Canadian government, further enhancing the overall mission.
As the Transglobal Car Expedition continues, their efforts will provide valuable insights into extreme environments, scientific research, and global solutions, making this an expedition of immense significance in the automotive and scientific communities.
