Dubai police to use Lamborghini Urus Performante for patrol car duty

The city of Dubai has once again expanded its fleet of exotic police cars, this time by helping Lamborghini set a new annual sales record with the delivery of a new Urus Performante. At the 2023 edition of the Dubai Airshow, the city took delivery of the range-topping version of the Italian brand’s high-performance SUV.

Dubai officials are planning to use the Urus Performante as a patrol car, which has necessitated several modifications. The SUV, finished in the city’s white and green livery, is equipped with a specific rear spoiler featuring an integrated 360-degree LED light bar and siren. Although interior pictures haven’t been released, it’s known that the vehicle is equipped with an armored gun box, a folding screen that displays messages, and a defibrillator for first-aid response. Additionally, a special compartment has been added to the trunk to store the service equipment for the officers assigned to the Urus.

Despite these modifications, the power under the hood remains unchanged. The Urus Performante is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with a pair of turbochargers, capable of producing 657 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 627 pound-feet of torque from 2,300 to 4,500 rpm. The SUV is also equipped with a titanium exhaust system designed by Akrapovič and an eight-speed automatic transmission. With the ability to reach 62 mph from a stop in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph, the Urus Performante is more than capable of keeping up with Dubai’s large concentration of supercars.

This is not the first time Dubai’s police department has added high-end cars to its fleet. Over the past decade, the department has purchased vehicles such as a Lexus RC F, Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes-Benz G-Class tuned to 700 horsepower by Brabus, and even a science-fiction-like hoverbike. Not limited to just supercars, the fleet also includes more everyday vehicles such as Toyota Land Cruisers, Dodge Chargers, and Nissan Pathfinders.

Not to be outdone, Abu Dhabi, the second-largest city in the UAE, also boasts a fleet of exotic police vehicles, including a Veyron and a Nissan GT-R.
