Audi RS Q8 Gets a Boost with Performance Trim Upgrade

The Audi RS Q8 has taken its performance up a notch with the introduction of the new Performance trim, following in the footsteps of the 2025 Audi E-Tron GT. This new variant boasts an impressive 631 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, making it the most powerful internal-combustion-engined SUV from Ingolstadt. With 40 more horsepower and 36 additional pound-feet of torque compared to the standard RS Q8, the RS Q8 Performance sits just below the non-hybrid 2024 Lamborghini Urus S in terms of power.

Enhancements to the RS Q8 Performance include a freer exhaust system that not only boosts performance but also enhances the exhaust note, with the option to upgrade to an RS Sport exhaust for an even more aggressive sound. This powerhouse of an SUV can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard RS Q8. Renowned development driver Frank Stippler achieved an impressive lap time of 7:36.698 at the Nurburgring, setting a new record for the fastest SUV around the legendary track.

Exclusive features for the RS Q8 Performance include new 23-inch forged and milled wheels, which not only enhance the SUV’s appearance but also reduce weight compared to the standard wheels. Matte gray accents and matte carbon accents are available to further distinguish the Performance trim. Additionally, the RS ceramic braking system with 10-piston front calipers comes standard, with an option to upgrade to a performance package that increases the top speed to around 190 miles per hour.

In terms of design, both the RS Q8 and the RS Q8 Performance feature updated cosmetic enhancements such as a more pronounced honeycomb grille, larger side intakes, and new wheel designs. The RS Design Package offers a choice of Dinamica microfiber in blue, gray, or red, adding a touch of luxury to the interior. An adaptive suspension system, including the electromechanical active roll stabilization (eAWS) suspension, is available as an option.

While U.S. specifications for the RS Q8 Performance have yet to be announced, we can expect a significant increase in price from the current starting price of $127,000 for the standard RS Q8. Stay tuned for more updates from Audi on this high-performance SUV.
