During a recent event in Guangzhou, GAC Toyota unveiled ambitious plans for introducing the Bozhi 3X SUV, the brand’s flagship model integrated with an advanced autonomous driving system. This system promises sophisticated driving assistance capabilities for parking, highway navigation, and urban traffic scenarios. By offering this groundbreaking technology, GAC Toyota aims to secure a leading position in autonomous driving solutions among foreign automotive brands in China.

Collaborating with Momenta Global, a renowned autonomous driving software startup, GAC Toyota is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge driver-assistance technologies. Additionally, the partnership with Huawei will enable GAC Toyota to leverage the tech giant’s in-vehicle operating software for an upcoming electric sedan launch scheduled for 2025, tailored specifically for the Chinese market.

Looking ahead, GAC Toyota plans to implement iron phosphate lithium batteries in its lineup between 2026 and 2027, with the potential to reduce production costs for its bZ4X EV by 40%. This strategic decision underscores Toyota’s commitment to sustainability and cost-efficiency in the electric vehicle segment.

Despite facing a sales decline in China earlier this year, Toyota remains a formidable player in the automotive market, ranking fifth among all brands in terms of car sales.
