England-based TWR gives the Jaguar XJS a resto-mod makeover

From classic cars like the Volvo P1800 to the iconic Porsche 928, the resto-modding trend has breathed new life into old favorites, bringing them into the modern era. British company TWR has joined the movement by unveiling their updated version of the Jaguar XJS, known as the Supercat.

The Supercat is a far cry from the original XJS, with a bold and muscular appearance highlighted by a body kit featuring a front splitter, wheel arch flares reminiscent of Group B rally cars, a rear spoiler, and an integrated rear diffuser. LED lights add a modern touch, while the center-locking wheels enhance the overall aesthetic. The body panels are crafted from carbon fiber to ensure a lightweight design.

While interior details are still under wraps, TWR promises high levels of customization throughout the vehicle. The real excitement lies under the hood, where a supercharged V12 engine producing 600 horsepower is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Extensive real-world testing has gone into perfecting this powerhouse over the course of two years.

The Supercat is set to make its dynamic debut in the summer of 2024, likely at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. With production limited to just 88 units worldwide, those interested should act quickly. The starting price of £225,000 (approximately $281,500) before taxes reflects the exclusivity and high-performance nature of this vehicle, tailored with the global market in mind.

For those who may not be drawn to the XJS, TWR assures that they have more exciting resto-modded projects in store for the future, although details remain undisclosed.

The XJS, originally introduced in 1976 as a successor to the iconic E-Type, had a lengthy production run until 1996. Available in various configurations including straight-six and V12 engines, manual or automatic transmissions, coupe or convertible styles, the XJS received updates over the years to stay relevant and attractive to buyers.
