Prototype of the Bugatti Chiron successor seen in full profile with camouflage on

When Bugatti first hinted at the new V16 engine that will power the successor to the Chiron, enthusiasts were eager to catch a glimpse of the new coupe. Thanks to Top Gear, we now have a sneak peek at a prototype, revealing design elements that are unmistakably Bugatti. The iconic low nose, signature C graphic along the side, sleek light bar at the rear, and impressive deployable wing are all present. However, there are subtle changes that indicate a more aggressive and futuristic design approach.

The new monocoque structure underneath appears to be lower and longer than the current Chiron, with a longer front overhang and a repositioned curve of the C graphic. The door lines have also been updated, adding to the aerodynamic and modern look of the car. The rear of the prototype showcases a curved taillight design, reminiscent of the Super Sport variant of the Chiron, which aimed to break the 300 mph barrier.

The elongated proportions of the prototype suggest that it has been modified to accommodate the new hybrid and quad-turbocharged V16 powertrain. This next-generation hypercar is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid system, with Rimac-Bugatti hinting at a “heavily electrified” power unit. This could enable the vehicle to operate on electric power alone for short distances, aligning with the trend seen in other super sports cars. Speculations point to an 8.3-liter ICE unit developed in collaboration with Cosworth, combined with three electric motors producing 335 horsepower each, potentially resulting in a significant power increase over the Chiron’s 1,578 horsepower.

The highly anticipated debut of Bugatti’s new creation is scheduled for June 20 at the brand’s headquarters in Molsheim, France. Stay tuned for more details on this cutting-edge hypercar that is set to redefine performance and luxury in the automotive industry.
