Competing with Stiff Rivals: 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer Review

In its second year since the mid-cycle refresh, the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer retains its attractive interior and excellent standard infotainment tech that make it a good value proposition. However, it still faces stiff competition from models like the Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, and VW Taos. Interestingly, its sibling, the Chevrolet Trax, is considered a better value with its more engaging driving dynamics and lower starting price.

One of the notable updates for the 2025 Trailblazer is the addition of Flex Fuel capability in the 1.2-liter powertrain, making it E85-compatible. Additionally, new exterior color options, including Marina Blue Metallic, have been introduced.

The Trailblazer’s interior features a modern design that closely resembles other Chevy crossovers. With the addition of yellow stitching, colored trim pieces, and available heated front seats and steering wheel in the Activ trim, it offers a stylish and comfortable cabin. The inclusion of an 11-inch central infotainment touchscreen and 8-inch digital instrument panel, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhance the in-car technology experience.

Despite being a larger subcompact SUV, the Trailblazer offers ample rear legroom and cargo space, with 25.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 54.3 cubic feet with the seats folded down. However, the available panoramic sunroof may reduce headroom. The unique fold-flat front passenger seat provides additional versatility in terms of cargo hauling capability.

Performance-wise, the Trailblazer comes equipped with a turbocharged 1.2-liter engine producing 137 horsepower or an upgraded 1.3-liter engine with 155 horsepower. Fuel economy ratings range from 29-33 mpg combined depending on the engine and drivetrain configuration.

While the Trailblazer may not be the most exciting to drive, its comfort-oriented suspension setup provides a smooth ride over rough city streets and dirt roads. However, its driving dynamics fall short compared to competitors like the Subaru Crosstrek and Mazda CX-30.

With prices starting at $24,395 including destination charges, the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer offers a competitive value proposition in the subcompact SUV segment. However, potential buyers may want to explore other Chevrolet models like the Trax for a more engaging driving experience and better overall value.
