CEO of Ford, Jim Farley hints at a secret Mustang

This year marks a significant milestone for the Ford Mustang, as the iconic American muscle car celebrates its 60th anniversary entering into its seventh generation for the 2024 model year. To commemorate this achievement, Ford is hosting a series of events and offering special bonuses for Mustang owners as they continue to enjoy their beloved vehicles.

Excitement is building for what lies ahead, as CEO Jim Farley recently hinted at a new version of the Mustang in the works. A cryptic post on X/Twitter included an image of a Mustang hidden under a green cover, sparking speculation among enthusiasts. While details remain scarce, fans are speculating about the possibility of an electrified Mustang, a Boss 302 revival, or other significant upgrades.

Interestingly, the image shared by Farley was labeled “RTR Fun 03b,” suggesting involvement from Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s RTR Vehicles. Known for offering power, aerodynamic, and styling enhancements for the seventh-gen Mustang, RTR’s top Spec 2 package includes notable suspension upgrades for improved cornering performance. If the mystery vehicle features similar enhancements, it is poised to be a formidable performance machine.

With a rich history of iconic models to draw from, Ford has a plethora of legendary names to consider for the new Mustang variant. As the automaker explores electrification options, the potential for a groundbreaking development in Mustang’s lineup remains promising.

While enthusiasts eagerly await further details from Farley, Ford continues to keep the Mustang community engaged. Updates for the 2024 model, including a retro-inspired theme for the digital gauge cluster via over-the-air updates, showcase the brand’s commitment to innovation. The upcoming Mustang Experience Center at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2025 will provide fans with an immersive environment featuring track time, a merchandise store, and event hosting capabilities.

Furthermore, Ford has introduced the application process for the GTD, its most hardcore Mustang to date. Boasting a starting price of $325,000, the GTD is equipped with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing over 800 horsepower. Combined with advanced active aerodynamics, the GTD delivers unparalleled handling performance for a street-legal Mustang.
