Can-Am unveils pricing and specifications for electric motorcycles

Can-Am’s re-entry into the motorcycle industry with electric bikes has generated excitement, with the unveiling of the specs and pricing for their first offerings, the Pulse and the Origin. These bikes closely compete with the LiveWire S2 and Zero Motorcycles FX lines.

Both the Pulse and Origin models share a similar powertrain, utilizing a Rotax electric motor that delivers 47 horsepower and 53 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain features a combination swing-arm and enclosed chain case that reduces chain maintenance significantly. The bikes accelerate swiftly, with the Pulse reaching 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and the Origin achieving the same speed in 4.3 seconds.

Equipped with an 8.9-kWh battery pack, both bikes support Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, enabling a quick charge from 20% to 80% in just 50 minutes. Despite the competitive range, the bikes offer a city range of 100 miles on the Origin and a claimed city range of 113 miles on the LiveWire S2 Del Mar.

In terms of styling and chassis, the Pulse is road-oriented with a lower seat height and sporty appearance, while the Origin boasts higher ground clearance and adjustable suspension settings for off-road adventures. Both models feature advanced technology, including a large touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and various riding modes, with the Origin offering exclusive off-road modes.

The Pulse comes at a more affordable price point starting at $13,999 for the base model, while the Origin starts at $14,499. Can-Am is currently accepting orders for both models, with production slated to begin later this year and deliveries set to start early next year. Exciting times lie ahead for electric motorcycle enthusiasts looking to explore the streets and trails in style and efficiency.
