Andretti-Cadillac reacts to Formula 1’s rejection of its 2025 entry

Formula 1 recently rejected Andretti Autosports’ attempt to join as an 11th team, citing concerns about the team’s competitiveness and its potential value to the championship. In response, Andretti-Cadillac strongly disagreed with this assessment, emphasizing their commitment to establishing a genuine American works team in F1 and their progress in developing a highly competitive car and power unit.

Despite the setback, Andretti-Cadillac’s statement reveals that the team is actively advancing its car development efforts. The Andretti team has assembled a workforce of 120 individuals, including 50 GM employees dedicated to the power unit development. Wind tunnel tests for the 2025 car are underway, and discussions with Renault are occurring in order to integrate an engine into their vehicle prior to GM’s powertrain availability in 2028.

While Formula 1 has left the door open for Andretti-Cadillac to potentially enter the championship in 2028 with a Cadillac powertrain, there is no guarantee that the bid will be accepted at that time. Despite this uncertain future, Andretti-Cadillac’s determination and ongoing work demonstrate their ambition to compete in F1 and their dedication to advancing American presence in the sport.
