BMW drivers have a higher rate of DUIs compared to drivers of other car brands

A recent study conducted by LendingTree has revealed some interesting insights into the driving behaviors of different car brand enthusiasts. While Ram drivers were found to be the worst overall, BMW drivers were discovered to be the most susceptible to receiving DUIs, with a staggering 3.13 DUIs per 1,000 drivers. This puts them almost twice as likely to receive a DUI as the next closest brand.

The 10 vehicle brands with drivers most likely to have DUIs include BMW, Ram, Subaru, Dodge, Jeep, Chevrolet, GMC (tied with Ford), Ford, Honda, and Volkswagen. On the other end of the spectrum, Mitsubishi, Volvo, Mercury, and Kia drivers had the fewest DUIs. However, it is important to note that only nine out of 30 assessed brands had DUI rates below 1.00.

Further insights from the study revealed that Tesla drivers topped the list for accidents, with a rate of 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers. This was closely followed by Ram at 22.76 and Subaru at 20.90. On the positive side, Mercury drivers, along with Pontiac and Saturn drivers, were found to be the best overall, indicating more careful driving habits among enthusiasts of defunct American brands.

The study also took into consideration state-specific behaviors, revealing that some brands’ drivers behaved worse in certain states. For example, Ram ranked as the worst in Massachusetts, while Tesla had the worst overall drivers in 11 other states.

It is important to note that lousy driving and alcohol offenses can have serious consequences, such as license suspension, loss of insurance, and financial penalties. These findings provide valuable insights for both car enthusiasts and the automotive industry as a whole, shedding light on the correlation between car brand affinity and driving behavior.
