Suzuki Jimny receives 1980s rally-inspired makeover by Japanese tuner

Ever since its debut in 2018, the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny has become a canvas for tuners worldwide to express their creativity. From a mini Ford Bronco to a Mercedes-Benz G-Class lookalike, and even a clone of the original Land Rover Defender, the Jimny has seen some major transformations. And now, the latest builds inspired by rally cars from the 1980s are taking the automotive world by storm.

Developed by Japanese tuner DAMD for the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, the Little 5 and Little Delta builds pay tribute to iconic hatchbacks from the 1980s. The Little 5 draws inspiration from Renault’s 5 Turbo and 5 Turbo 2, while the Little Delta channels the spirit of the Lancia Delta Integrale. With a small footprint and boxy proportions, the Jimny provides the perfect base for these retro-inspired designs.

Both builds feature a striking body kit with a deeper front bumper and flared wheel arches, riding on OZ Racing wheels. The Little 5 boasts a redesigned front end with rectangular lights, Renault’s logo, and “NON-TURBO” decals for a touch of humor, all finished in blue paint. Meanwhile, the Little Delta receives a unique grille, specific spoiler, and bright trim, all painted in red.

While interior photos haven’t been released, it’s likely that the Little 5 features standard Jimny seats, while the Little Delta receives front sport seats. As for technical specifications, details are yet to be disclosed, but it is assumed that power comes from either the 658cc turbocharged three-cylinder or the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine offered by Suzuki.

With their unique and eye-catching designs, it wouldn’t be surprising to see both the Little 5 and Little Delta body kits added to DAMD’s catalog in the near future. These builds showcase the unlimited potential for customization that the Suzuki Jimny offers, making it a highly sought-after platform for automotive enthusiasts and tuners worldwide.
